How safe is Qatar for Tourists?

Qatar is a very safe country to travel to. Its crime rates are very low. Also, violent crimes are extremely rare, especially towards foreigners. Although petty theft exists but is not common. However, there have been some reports concerning credit card scams. So, avoid using ATMs outside the big cities. It was also named the safest city in the world in 2017 and 2019.  Along with 10 other countries, Qatar has the world’s joint-lowest murder rate registering zero (0) intentional homicides per 100,000 people.

Qatar has more than 760 miles (1,230 km) of roads. Almost all of them are paved. There are no railroads. However, now Qatar has a new underground metro system for transportation. As an alternative, we can use taxis and the bus system. Popular ride-sharing apps of Careem and Uber also work in Qatar.

Although it depends upon where you travel and stay. However, Doha is one of the richest cities in the world and can be a little expensive for tourists. Alternatively, the city does have budget hotel options along with inexpensive eateries and travel options that can save loads of money on your travel.

Qatari cuisine features fresh fish and rice cooked with Indian spices. A typical meal might include boiled fish served on a bed of spicy rice with curry and potatoes. Traditional Qatari food is influenced by Indian and Iranian cuisine. Qatar’s specialty dishes include Ghuzi, Motabel, Biriani, Taboulleh, and Hummus.
